Second Line IT Technician

  • £27,000 - £30,000 p/a
  • Basildon, Essex
  • Permanent

Prime Appointments have a great partnership with an IT solutions consultancy company who would like to welcome an enthusiastic, talented and committed Second Line IT Technician to join their friendly team of proactive Support Engineers.

This is a full-time permanent requirement offering a salary between £27,000-£30,000 depending on preference and experience. You will be mainly based at the company headquarters in Basildon, with two weekly half days and a full day once a month in Ilford.

Your responsibilities as a Second Line IT Technician here would include:

  • Offering telephone and remote support with a small number of VIP customers based in Ilford requiring face to face maintenance on a recurring timetable
  • Acting as an escalation point for First Line Technicians, Field Technicians and Managed Service Technicians
  • Ensure incidents are resolved in line with Service Level Agreements
  • Complete relevant and skilled investigations before escalating to Third Line
  • Mentor and guide more junior members of the team when required
  • Joining the technical installation team when required to deploy new solutions
  • Covering visits delivered by other Senior IT Technicians should they be on annual leave

Strong technical knowledge candidates will need to demonstrate to be progressed:

  • Windows Server 2012r2 2022 and associated Management tools AD / GPO / DHCP / DNS
  • Microsoft Virtualization products including Hyper-V and Failover Cluster Manager
  • Managed Wireless solutions including Rucks
  • Networking Fundamentals
  • Microsoft 365 Outlook / AD Sync / Teams
  • Google Workspace for Education
  • Onsite and cloud backups Microsoft DPM and N-Able
  • Deployment Technologies WDS and MDT

Working technical knowledge including:

  • Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune)
  • VLAN technology
  • Storage SANS & RAID arrays
  • Firewalls and Routers Draytek and Smoothwall

Please note that candidates also will need to have a full driving license and at least three years previous experience in a technical support setting.
