Our client is keen to recruit a quality driven Product Engineer with electrical and mechanical knowledge to work with customers solving any quality problems. This is very much a duel role managing the quality function with a small team and working with engineering to rectify any problems. The company is a well-established electrical manufacturer who supply customer specified products for power distribution within a variety of industries.
Work as a part of both the quality & engineering teams
Review existing & devise new company quality control techniques, procedures, and standards.
Assume responsibility for the overall quality of all products released into the market including management of 2 staff
Ensure that manufacturing or production processes meet national and international standards
Monitor performance by gathering relevant data and producing monthly statistical reports
Detect & investigate causes of any quality problems that may arise, and liaise with the engineering team to implement effective solutions
Liaise with, manage and satisfy customer expectations about product quality
Audit materials and processes for items provided by external suppliers, to ensure a consistent quality performance.
Investigate methods to reduce waste and increase efficiency
Support the research and development, product testing, and implementation of new product ranges.
Occasionally visit suppliers in Europe and the Far East (1-2 times per year)
Skills & Experience
Recognised quality assurance and quality management qualifications preferred
Must have a broad-based engineering knowledge, and previous manufacturing experience in the electrical equipment sector or similar
Strong problem solving, communication, analytical & reporting skills required
The ability to read and interpret technical specifications and schematics
Must have a good understanding of industry relevant quality standards
Customer focused and willing to travel
Salary circa £38,000
Hours 8am 4.30pm with ½ hour lunch (some flexibility required)
23 days holiday plus bank holidays (shutdown at Christmas)
