PRODUCTION MANAGER REQUIRED -£30,000-£35,000
Market leading grower and supplier of specialist packed food products based in rural Colchester are actively recruiting for a BRAND NEW and EXCITING position. This really is a rare position, working in a new Production Facility purpose built to house a State of the Art Grading Machine.
Due to construction of the new area, a position for a Grading Manager has been created. This opportunity would suit a Mechanically biased Engineer who has made a step in to management and is keen to progress their career within a company that really values their team, the successful candidate will take complete ownership of the Machine and the facility, ensuring optimal production output at all times, the machine is well maintained and downtime is kept to a minimum.
Duties and Responsibilities will include;
Taking full ownership of the building and Grading machine
Management of Grading area
Mechanical maintenance of Grading Machine (motors, gearboxes, bearings, drive shafts)
Working on the line, unloading lorries (by hand and with Counterbalance forklift) feeding Grader with product.
Directing and managing a small team to ensure efficiency is maintained at all times
Managing staff numbers, ensuring production is staffed correctly for peaks and troughs
Communicating across all departments within the business
Daily communication with suppliers, customers and lorry drivers
Taking charge of Health & Safety and housekeeping in the department
Other duties as required with the remit of the role
The ideal candidate will be an experienced mechanical maintenance engineer with production and management experience from a Manufacturing, Agricultural or Industrial background who is looking for a role where they can really take ownership of an exciting new project that will help push a market leader to the next level.
A relevant Apprenticeship in Engineering would be a distinct advantage
Previous leadership within a Production Environment
Mechanical Maintenance Experience
A "can do" attitude
A fast learner, who is keen to learn and develop
Counterbalance Forklift Ticket
Knowledge of Grading Machines would be a distinct advantage

Hours and Salary;
The core hours of the role will be 7am-4.30pm but applicants need to be aware that flexibility is required to ensure optimal production runs at all times (plus the equivalent of 1 weekend a month)
Pay £30,000-£35,000 depending on experience
Own transport required, due to location
