Our client sells their products to various markets worldwide, many used within aerospace, defence and telecommunications industry. They design, develop and manufacture in-house using leading-edge microprocessors and peripheral components. Due to expansion they are looking to recruit a Mechanical or Thermal Engineer. The ideal candidate would be qualified to degree level, have expertise in both mechanical and thermal design in an electronic product environment as well as good 3D CAD skills and have experience of designing small or precision components.
Design and develop this range of mechanical parts.
Work closely with our electronics, board layout and other mechanical and thermal engineers at all the different stages of board development, for both rugged and more benign environments.
Be involved in enhancing our internal design and development procedures
Mentoring more junior mechanical and thermal engineers.
Be responsible for testing your designs and ensuring that they are successfully put into production.
Create a number of different metal components to act as heat sinks and stiffening frames to cool and strengthen boards.
Design test fixtures and jigs, to support our product development and production teams.
Must be educated to degree level
Experience of FloTHERM or other thermal simulation packages would be advantageous.
Industry experience of designing small or precision components for electronic product packaging or similar environments essential
Must have a good understanding of tolerances and their effects in real-world production.
Able to explain your ideas and solutions to others including senior and junior engineering staff.
Solidworks or similar 3D CAD experience preferred
Practical hands-on engineering skills are essential
Must have a good appreciation of thermal management techniques, especially in electronic product design would be ideal.
Previous involvement in environmental testing, e.g. shock, vibration or thermal tests preferred
A background in product development for airborne or ground vehicle equipment.
Hours 8.45 5.15 Monday to Friday
