Senior Systems Engineer

A leading Surveillance Systems company are looking to recruit a Senior Systems Engineer to develop and deliver Company and Customer Funded projects based on state-of-the-art radar technology. Activities will include all aspects of the Systems Engineering lifecycle from Concept through to Delivery and Acceptance, including Bid Support, Design and Integration. If you have experience as a Senior Systems engineer with an understanding of a range of engineering disciplines and the ability to communicate clearly at all levels then this could be your ideal role.

Duties:

  • Responsible for the definition and delivery of Systems solutions.
  • Technical support to Sales and Marketing including generating information to support bids, technical presentations to customers, generation of product specifications and attendance at customer meetings.
  • Provide technical design solutions to support proposed system changes and bids ensuring appropriate compliance with customer, business and legislative requirements including safety.
  • Adopt a consistent approach to systems engineering activities throughout the design life cycle.
  • Take an active involvement in new product design, providing system level input from product definition through to release into production
  • Maintain and support legacy/delivered systems including visits to customer sites and installations where necessary.
  • Monitor and, where possible, introduce up to date technology into system designs.
  • Travel within the UK and overseas is required, and is considered a frequent feature of this role. This could be required at short notice and may involve deployments of up to 6 weeks at a time.
  • Promote the work of the company in the field of Systems Engineering through attendance at conferences and seminars and where appropriate, through the presentation and publication of technical papers


Skills & Experience:

  • Ideally qualified to Degree level in Engineering/Mathematics/Physics would be preferable
  • Must have Military Land Systems experience
  • Experience of systems design, integration & test is essential.
  • Must have an understanding of Systems and Product lifecycles from concept through to delivery.
  • An understanding of Radar Systems is desirable, although not essential if other complementary skills demonstrate a capacity to understand new technologies quickly and effectively.
  • Experience of the whole product lifecycle if preferred (concept generation, concept demonstration, development, production and in-service support).
  • An understanding of a range of Engineering disciplines (Software, Mechanical, and Electrical).
  • Good inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate to all levels is essential
  • Flexible, able to apply skills and knowledge across a number of different projects and products
  • Computer literate with a good standard of written English, capable of compiling accurate, detailed and well-presented technical proposals, specifications and reports.
  • Experience of working on product development for Naval Platforms or on Navigation equipment would be beneficial
  • Must be willing to travel depending upon project requirements.
  • UK Security clearance and UK Driving License preferred.
  • Must be physically fit and able to work at height.
