Here at Prime Appointments we care about supporting our community, we do this in a number of ways, mainly through our business and getting people out to work, but as a family oriented business we help and support each other and more importantly many of our consultants actively fundraise for local charities. May has been a busy month for charity events and every single member of staff has out-done themselves by donating generously with their time and money.
We rode into May at high-speed when Terry (our financial controller) did a 15 mile ‘Ride for Helen’ Cycle. The race has four different lengths the cyclists can embark in, and the aim of the day is to enhance awareness and money for the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity. This particular charity enhances the life of people living with cancer as much as it can, through various centres around the country, which offer a range of complementary therapies to patients in an environment of peace and tranquility.
Stepping up to the challenge
Next, some of our Senior Management Team took part in the 12 mile 10th Annual Breast Cancer Now ‘Riverside Walk’ in Suffolk and triumphantly completed their challenge having raised a good amount of money and awareness for a charity which is very close to our MD, Robyn Holmes’ heart! Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s largest breast cancer research charity.
As some of you will know from our Instagram and other social media posts Luke, one of our Technical & EngineeringConsultants worked very hard to organize a fabulous Prime Appointments Bake-Off and Dress-Down Day to raise money and awareness for the Huntington Disease Association. The HDA gives people with Huntington’s Disease and their families advice and support, as well as professionals who may need expert advice in this field. HD is a hereditary disorder of the central nervous system with a huge range of symptoms, which can be controlled by medication. Sadly, however currently there is no cure for HD. The whole Prime Appointments team pitched in, donating to the cause and we raised just over £200 in the end – with the help of some neighbouring businesses who bought cakes from our bake-off too! Well done to all, what a wonderful contribution to our community.
After the success of Friday we were pleased to see Jackie from our Accountancy & Finance Division return to work on Monday having had a successful 15 mile walk with some of her friends along with hundreds of other people to raise money for Farleigh Hospice via funding and Just Giving Pages. The walk also helps make people aware of the help Farleigh Hospice gives to terminally ill men, women and children across the country. This was a cause very close to Jackie’s heart and it was lovely to see our colleagues put their hands in their pockets once more, to support Jackie’s cause.
A team effort
That all being said, Prime Appointments is still giving back to the community as there are a couple of charity bits still to come! Not only have we as a company decided to choose Alzheimer’s Society as our charity of the year for 2017/2018, but we are also excited to have been approached by a candidate, (David) who has asked us to promote an exciting new venture he is undertaking whereby he will be skydiving to raise awareness and support for the charity Lupus UK! As world Lupus day was on May 10th, he wants to do a skydive in June and is looking for any donations – Dan, a consultant on the Industrial Desk is looking after these donations on his behalf until he next pops in to the office, so if you wish to donate please speak to Dan!
Last but not least, Tom – one of our Industrial Consultants will be doing a boxing match on Sunday, 4th June in aid of Cancer Research UK. If anyone would like to donate to this very worthy cause you can sponsor him via this link: https://profile.justgiving.com/#/Fundraising
Keep an eye out for more charity information following soon, as we start to plan our tactics for raising as much money as possible for the Alzheimer’s Society!
