We are proud to announce we absolutely smashed our target of raising £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support! In total, we raised £587.41 on Friday 28th September, Macmillan’s official nation-wide Coffee Morning.
It was a grand effort with employees, clients and candidates pulling out all the stops to raise money for a cause that is very close to our hearts. With a raffle and an in-house bake off, it was all systems go! Here’s how the team managed to smash yet another charity target…
Roll up, roll up for the raffle!
With over 50 entrants, our raffle was a huge success! For those who prefer tea to coffee, we put a luxury Fortnum & Mason afternoon tea hamper up for grabs! The tea-lover’s dream included a cook book, chocolate pearl sweets, an afternoon tea blend, a Macmillan tea-towel and a jar of our valued client Tiptree Patisserie's iconic Tiptree jam.
Our team publicised the competition across all of our social media channels, getting as many candidates and clients involved as possible. At just a fraction of the usual price for one of Fortnum & Mason’s gorgeous creations, entrants could be in the running to win by just donating £5 on Prime’s Just Giving page.
In the end, the raffle winner was none other than our very own IT Recruitment Consultant Simon Morris. A massive Fortnum fan, he is over the moon to have helped us raise funds for this amazing charity – and won the ultimate tea fix to boot!
Bake Off, Prime-style!
To really get into the coffee morning spirit, the Prime family decided to dust off their whisks and host the ultimate Bake Off! Competing to win the title of “Star Baker”, the competition was judged by all employees, with everyone casting their vote for their favourite cake. To raise as much money as possible, the team charged 50p per slice and £2 to enter.
As anyone who had the chance to have a look at our social media pages in the last week of September will have seen, the results were cake-tastic! Our kitchen table was absolutely heaving with delicious treats as the Prime family held nothing back in their efforts.

To add to the excitement, three of our highly valued clients also chose to pop by to partake in the fun! Both Dan Hunt from Windsor Material Handling as well as Maggie Coull and Kelly Aldridge at Bairds Malt stopped by to support us.
In the end, the final prize went to our Technical and Engineering Resourcer Holly Warren and her scrumptious Lemon & Victoria Cream cake. For her unbeatable combination, Holly took home a Mary Berry cookery book and kit and the prestigious title of "Star Baker".
To keep things interesting, we also threw an executive taste test into the mix! Our very own Director and would-be cake-tester Peter Holmes selected 3 of the best cakes to give our runners up a chance to shine.
First prize went to our Marketing Exec Rebecca Clarke, with Simon Morris winning second and Technical & Engineering consultant Julia Sherlock at third place.
All in all, we at Prime are over the moon to have hosted yet another hugely successful fundraising day! As we grow as a business we are eager to give back in any way we can and taking part in charity events like this is just the start.
Our next mission...
To continue our commitment to giving back, we’ve set a target to raise £5000 before the next National Alzheimer's Awareness day on September the 21st 2019. This issue that is particularly important to us, as our co-founder Margaret Locke was unfortunate enough to be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 10 years ago. Without Margaret’s intelligence, passion and enthusiasm, Prime would not be here today. As a company, we are dedicated to doing everything we can to tackle this disease and provide support to everyone who is affected by it. Help us get to our target and donate today.
