We are absolutely over the moon to announce that our Golf Day on Friday the 14th of June was a huge success, raising a massive £12,624 for Alzheimer’s Society, our chosen Charity of the Year! After months of organizing, our team couldn’t be happier with the result. We smashed our initial target to raise £10,000 by the next World Alzheimer’s Day on21st September in one fell swoop, proving once again that when we set our sights on a goal, we get there! This means that all together, we’re raised an incredible combined total of ￡19,236 so far, in under a year!
A cause that is very close to our hearts, we are beyond excited to have come this far in our fundraising journey. 11 years ago, our co-founder Margaret Locke was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Now the leading cause of death in the UK ahead of both cancer and heart disease, Alzheimer’s Society urgently need as much support as they can get. To help them continue with their excellent progress in fighting this condition and supporting its sufferers, we’re spreading the word far and wide. Our first event as official partners with Alzheimer’s Society was a massive success, raising just over £6,276.63 – far past our very first yearly goal of £5k! Following this success, we set our hearts on making our next big event even more of a success…
Going for gold…
As keen golfers ourselves, we have always wanted to do something with our partners Colchester Golf Club, who we are proud to sponsor. But it was our director Peter Holmes’ idea to arrange a special day for our clients and friends, in aid of our Charity of the Year. To make sure it was a day that everyone would enjoy, our charity committee Rebecca and Holly pulled out all the stops to make the day as special as possible.
Business leaders, clients and personal friends from around Essex and Suffolk came to support the day, with each team donating to take part. Activities kicked off with bacon sandwiches, snacks and freebies galore including customized golf balls, tee pegs, personalized water bottles and more. Then it was time to grab a club and get out on the green. To spice things up, we splashed out on a number of high-end prizes, including Pro Golf attire and luxury Magnums of wine! With such enticing rewards on display it’s safe to say that everyone’s putting was on point.
To keep everyone energized, we made sure to have a halfway house where everyone could replenish their energy levels. With an all-expenses paid buffet and a free bar, it was more than a lot of our attendees were used to on their usual golfing rounds! Before the grand auction, our final attraction was a fun “heads or tails” game, with £200 up for grabs. We were beyond pleased to see everyone get involved and pitch in. What’s more, the victors donated their winnings right back to Alzheimer’s Society! By this time, before we had even got to the auction, we’d already raised a massive £2,500.
Going once, going twice…
Finally, the highlight of the day was no doubt the auction. Attendees all fought to outbid each other for prizes donated by our valued clients and friends. Prizes included: Tickets to “The Voice” donated by Olly Murs, previous recruiter of Prime, Spurs Tickets by FR Shadbolt & Sons, luxury spa days by the Milsom Group and many more contributions. We were completely overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity, with the whole day raising an incredible total of £12,624! Margaret’s husband David Locke was in attendance and very touched to witness the outpouring of funds in aid of supporting Alzheimer’s Society’s work. All funds raised by the Prime team are being circulated within the local community to ensure those around Witham and beyond receive the money & support.
All in all, we could not be prouder or more grateful for the immense backing shown by our connections, dear friends and clients across the Essex and Suffolk business community. It has been truly heartwarming to see how much of a difference we were able to make by pulling together and calling everyone to action!
But the journey isn’t over yet. We still have 3 months left until our deadline … the next World Alzheimer’s Day, 21st September 2019. Through the new fundraising partnerships formed at Golf Day, already our network of awareness is growing exponentially. We’re beyond excited to see where it takes us. Can we hit £20k by then, before 2020? With your help, we’re sure we can!
